West Virginia Standards Alignment

How the Boss Kid Build 8-Kit Series maps to West Virginia's CTE entrepreneurship standards.

Boss Kid Build is a pre-secondary, CTE-adjacent digital entrepreneurship curriculum for learners ages 8–12 (grades 3–6). It builds the vocabulary, mindsets, and habits students need to succeed in high school Career & Technical Education. Every kit develops competencies that align with the entrepreneurship instruction delivered through the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) CTE programs.

West Virginia offers a dedicated Entrepreneurship & Innovation Pathway within its CTE system. Programs are governed by West Virginia's College- and Career-Readiness Programs of Study and Content Standards, and delivered through the state's signature Simulated Workplace model, in which students run their classroom like a real business. This document maps each Boss Kid Build kit to that pathway.

Where Entrepreneurship Lives in West Virginia

Entrepreneurship & Innovation Pathway: A dedicated CTE pathway for students with an idea or plan to start their own business.

College- & Career-Readiness Programs of Study/Standards: WVDE's content skill sets, standards, and objectives per program of study, aligned to industry standards.

Simulated Workplace: West Virginia's signature model in which students operate their CTE program like a real business.

CTSOs: DECA and FBLA provide leadership and competitive-event experiences aligned to the standards.

Kit-by-Kit Alignment

Each kit maps to the West Virginia course, cluster, or standard it most directly prepares students for. Boss Kid Build is pre-secondary and functions as a CTE on-ramp, not a replacement for West Virginia's approved courses.

A Note on Alignment Level

Boss Kid Build introduces these standards at an age-appropriate, awareness-and-application level for ages 8–12. West Virginia's secondary pathway carries them to mastery within a Simulated Workplace. The alignment reflects prerequisite readiness — the concepts and habits that let students arrive in West Virginia's Entrepreneurship & Innovation Pathway already fluent in the language of business.
