The basics on what Boss Kid Build is and who it's built for.

What is Boss Kid Build?

Boss Kid Build is a printable and digital entrepreneurship curriculum for kids ages 8–12. It's built around an 8-kit series that walks a child through starting a real business — from finding a big idea to earning real money — with each kit aligned to Texas CTE standards (19 TAC §127.275 and §127.276).

Who created Boss Kid Build?

Boss Kid Build was created by Miriam Charles, a Texas Certified business educator, former instructional technologist, and MBA-holder. It started with Boss Kid Box, a subscription box launched in April 2019, and has grown into the full digital curriculum.

What age range is Boss Kid Build for?

Boss Kid Build is designed for kids ages 8–12. Kids work at their own pace, and parents can stay involved through the Parent/Educator Facilitation Guide included with each Build Kit.

Is Boss Kid Build a homeschool curriculum, a classroom curriculum, or both?

Both. Boss Kid Build works as a standalone homeschool or micro-school curriculum, as a hybrid-learning supplement, or as an enrichment resource inside a traditional classroom. It doesn't require a teaching background to use.

Is Boss Kid Build only for Texas families?

No. Any family, anywhere, can purchase and use Boss Kid Build kits. Texas families have the added option of purchasing through ESA/TEFA funds, and the State Standards Alignment Library shows how the curriculum connects to standards in other states too.

What's inside a kit, how the Build series differs from Launch Kits, and how delivery works.

What's included in a Boss Kid Build kit?

Each Build Kit includes a student workbook with guided activities — like Kit 1's Superpower Spotter, Passion Map, and Idea Mixer — plus a separate Parent/Educator Facilitation Guide. Kits build sequentially across the Discover → Build → Launch → Grow journey, from Kit #1: Find Your Big Idea through Kit #8: Lead and Level Up.

What's the difference between a Build Kit and a Launch Kit?

Build Kits are the core 8-kit sequence and include a student workbook plus a separate Parent Guide. Launch Kits are single-file, business-specific starter workbooks (like Lemonade Stand, Slime Business, or Custom Stickers) with no separate Parent Guide — a faster, ready-to-launch playbook for one specific business idea.

How much does a Boss Kid Build kit cost?

Individual kits are $9.00 each (regularly $12.00). The Complete Kit Bundle — all 8 entrepreneurship workbooks — is $67.00 (regularly $72.00). Current pricing is always listed on each product page at bosskidbuild.com.

Is Boss Kid Build digital, printable, or both?

Both. Every kit is delivered as an instant printable PDF download. Families can print the full kit at home or through a local print shop, or complete it digitally using compatible PDF annotation tools.

Do I need to buy the kits in order?

The 8-kit Build series is designed sequentially — Discover → Build → Launch → Grow — so most families work through Kit #1 to Kit #8 in order. Launch Kits are standalone and can be purchased and used independently of the Build series.

Does a Launch Kit include a Certificate of Achievement?

Certificates of Achievement are part of the Build series. Launch Kits are single-file workbooks focused on getting one specific business idea off the ground, without the extended Build-series extras.

ESA / TEFA Funding

How Texas families can use Education Freedom Account funds, and what's next for other states.

Is Boss Kid Build ESA-eligible?

Yes, in Texas. Boss Kid Build is an official TEFA (Texas Education Freedom Accounts) Approved Vendor, listed on the Odyssey Marketplace, so Texas families can check out directly using their student's TEFA wallet — no reimbursement paperwork, no out-of-pocket cost.

When can Texas families start using TEFA funds for Boss Kid Build?

The TEFA Marketplace is now open. Homeschool families who received their Education Freedom Accounts can find Boss Kid Build in the Odyssey Marketplace and check out directly with their student's TEFA wallet.

Is Boss Kid Build ESA-approved in states other than Texas?

Texas and Wyoming are currently live, with additional states coming as Boss Kid Build expands. Program directors or families in other states can email hello@bosskidbuild.com to ask about the current status in their state.

Can non-ESA families still purchase Boss Kid Build?

Yes. Any family can purchase Boss Kid Build kits directly through bosskidbuild.com with a regular checkout, regardless of ESA eligibility or state.

Standards Alignment Library

How the Boss Kid Build 8-Kit Series maps to individual state education standards.

What is the State Standards Alignment Library?

The State Standards Alignment Library is a growing set of state-by-state guides showing how the Boss Kid Build 8-Kit Series maps to each state's CTE, business, or employability education standards. Kit 1 alone is already aligned to Texas TEKS, Louisiana Bulletin 128, Georgia CTAE, Iowa, and Utah standards, with more states added regularly.

Is my state covered in the alignment library?

All states are now covered! Visit the State Standards Alignment Library and click your state on the map to see how our curriculum aligns. 

Is Boss Kid Build officially endorsed by state departments of education?

No. Boss Kid Build is an independent curriculum publisher and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any state department of education. Each alignment guide documents how the curriculum connects to those standards — it's not an official state endorsement.

What's the difference between the Texas alignment page and other states' alignment pages?

Texas is Boss Kid Build's home state and TEFA-approval state, so its alignment page maps directly to the Texas 19 TAC §127 CTE codes used for TEFA eligibility. Other states' pages map the same 8-Kit Series to that state's own CTE, financial literacy, or employability standards, since each state uses different codes and course pathways.

Can I use an alignment guide to justify an ESA purchase or homeschool umbrella school documentation?

Many families use the alignment guides for exactly that — showing an ESA administrator, umbrella school, or co-op how Boss Kid Build connects to state standards. Each guide is downloadable and citation-ready. Requirements vary by state and program, so check with your specific administrator on what documentation they require.
