South Carolina Standards Alignment

How the Boss Kid Build 8-Kit Series maps to South Carolina's CTE entrepreneurship standards.

Boss Kid Build is a pre-secondary, CTE-adjacent digital entrepreneurship curriculum for learners ages 8–12 (grades 3–6). It builds the vocabulary, mindsets, and habits students need to succeed in high school Career & Technical Education. Every kit develops competencies that align with the entrepreneurship instruction delivered through the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) Office of Career & Technical Education.

South Carolina offers a dedicated Entrepreneurship course with published course standards, organized around the characteristics of entrepreneurs, professional and technology knowledge, personal qualities and employability skills, and CTSO participation. As SCDE adopts the modernized National Career Clusters Framework, entrepreneurship instruction sits within the Management & Entrepreneurship and Marketing & Sales clusters. This document maps each Boss Kid Build kit to those standards.

Where Entrepreneurship Lives in South Carolina

Management & Entrepreneurship Cluster: Where students learn to plan, launch, lead, and manage a business venture.

Marketing & Sales Cluster: Customer discovery, branding, promotion, and selling.

Entrepreneurship Course Standards: Organized around the characteristics of entrepreneurs, professional/technology knowledge, personal qualities and employability, and CTSO participation.

CTSOs & Credential: DECA and FBLA support the pathways; the Entrepreneurship & Small Business (ESB) certification is an aligned credential.

Kit-by-Kit Alignment

Each kit maps to the South Carolina course, cluster, or standard it most directly prepares students for. Boss Kid Build is pre-secondary and functions as a CTE on-ramp, not a replacement for South Carolina's approved courses.

A Note on Alignment Level

Boss Kid Build introduces these standards at an age-appropriate, awareness-and-application level for ages 8–12. South Carolina's secondary course carries them to mastery and certification. The alignment reflects prerequisite readiness — the concepts and habits that let students arrive in the SCDE Entrepreneurship course already fluent in the language of business.
