Pennsylvania Standards Alignment

How the Boss Kid Build 8-Kit Series maps to Pennsylvania's CTE entrepreneurship standards.

Boss Kid Build is a pre-secondary, CTE-adjacent digital entrepreneurship curriculum for learners ages 8–12 (grades 3–6). It builds the vocabulary, mindsets, and habits students need to succeed in high school Career & Technical Education. Every kit develops competencies that align with the business instruction delivered through the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), Bureau of CTE.

Pennsylvania organizes CTE into Programs of Study by CIP code, each defined by a Competency Task List (task grid) that is crosswalked to the Pennsylvania Core Standards and the National Common Career Technical Core. Business, finance, and marketing programs — including entrepreneurship — sit within PDE's Modernized Career Clusters Framework. This document maps each Boss Kid Build kit to those tasks.

Where Entrepreneurship Lives in Pennsylvania

Programs of Study (by CIP code): PDE's coordinated course sequences, each tied to a CIP code and a competency task list.

Competency Task Grids: The task lists that define each program, crosswalked to PA Core Standards and the National Common Career Technical Core.

Modernized Career Clusters Framework: Pennsylvania's future-focused structure for organizing CTE, including business, finance, and marketing programs.

SOAR & CTSOs: SOAR statewide articulation awards postsecondary credit; DECA, FBLA, and BPA are the aligned CTSOs.

Kit-by-Kit Alignment

Each kit maps to the Pennsylvania course, cluster, or standard it most directly prepares students for. Boss Kid Build is pre-secondary and functions as a CTE on-ramp, not a replacement for Pennsylvania's approved courses.

A Note on Alignment Level

Boss Kid Build introduces these tasks at an age-appropriate, awareness-and-application level for ages 8–12. Pennsylvania's secondary Programs of Study carry them to mastery. The alignment reflects prerequisite readiness — the concepts and habits that let students arrive in Pennsylvania's business Programs of Study already fluent in the language of business.
