Ohio Standards Alignment

How the Boss Kid Build 8-Kit Series maps to Ohio's CTE entrepreneurship standards.

Boss Kid Build is a pre-secondary, CTE-adjacent digital entrepreneurship curriculum for learners ages 8–12 (grades 3–6). It builds the vocabulary, mindsets, and habits students need to succeed in high school Career & Technical Education. Every kit develops competencies that align with the entrepreneurship instruction delivered through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) Office of Career-Technical Education.

Ohio teaches entrepreneurship within its Business & Administrative Services career field, defined by Career Field Technical Content Standards organized into Strands and Outcomes. Strand 1 (Business Operations / 21st Century Skills) carries the entrepreneurship content — Outcome 1.6 Business Literacy and Outcome 1.7 Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurs — alongside operations, marketing, and economics outcomes. Ohio also offers middle-school Business Foundations courses as a bridge. This document maps each Boss Kid Build kit to those standards.

Where Entrepreneurship Lives in Ohio

Business & Administrative Services Career Field: The career field housing business and entrepreneurship instruction, one of Ohio's 16 career fields.

Strand 1: Business Operations / 21st Century Skills: Includes Outcome 1.6 Business Literacy (identify business opportunities; the importance of planning your business; supply and demand) and Outcome 1.7 Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurs (develop a business plan; pathways to entrepreneurship; self-assessment of entrepreneurial potential).

Operations, Marketing & Economics Outcomes: Outcome 1.8 Operations Management, Outcome 1.10 Sales & Marketing, and Outcome 1.11 Principles of Business Economics; Strand 5 Marketing extends these.

Foundational & Middle-School Courses: Business Foundations is the recommended first course, with middle-school Business & Administrative Services courses as a bridge. BPA and DECA are the aligned CTSOs.

Kit-by-Kit Alignment

Each kit maps to the Ohio course, cluster, or standard it most directly prepares students for. Boss Kid Build is pre-secondary and functions as a CTE on-ramp, not a replacement for Ohio's approved courses.

A Note on Alignment Level

Boss Kid Build introduces these standards at an age-appropriate, awareness-and-application level for ages 8–12. Ohio's secondary career-field courses carry them to mastery. The alignment reflects prerequisite readiness — the concepts and habits that let students arrive in Ohio's Business & Administrative Services program already fluent in the language of business.
