North Dakota Standards Alignment

How the Boss Kid Build 8-Kit Series maps to North Dakota's CTE entrepreneurship standards.

Boss Kid Build is a pre-secondary, CTE-adjacent digital entrepreneurship curriculum for learners ages 8–12 (grades 3–6). It builds the vocabulary, mindsets, and habits students need to succeed in high school Career & Technical Education. Every kit develops competencies that align with the business instruction delivered through the North Dakota Department of Career & Technical Education (NDCTE).

North Dakota teaches entrepreneurship through its Business Education and Marketing Education program areas, each governed by North Dakota Content Standards and Course Frameworks. Both areas offer dedicated Entrepreneurship and Principles of Entrepreneurship courses, along with management, marketing, and finance courses. This document maps each Boss Kid Build kit to those standards.

Where Entrepreneurship Lives in North Dakota

Business Education: The program area offering Entrepreneurship (14111), Management, Business Fundamentals, and Financial Literacy courses.

Marketing Education: The program area offering Entrepreneurship (04111), Principles of Entrepreneurship, Marketing, and Management courses.

ND Content Standards & Course Frameworks: Industry-based program standards adopted by the State Board for CTE, with course frameworks that identify recommended standards per course.

CTSOs: DECA, FBLA, and BPA provide leadership and competitive-event experiences aligned to the standards.

Kit-by-Kit Alignment

Each kit maps to the North Dakota course, cluster, or standard it most directly prepares students for. Boss Kid Build is pre-secondary and functions as a CTE on-ramp, not a replacement for North Dakota's approved courses.

A Note on Alignment Level

Boss Kid Build introduces these standards at an age-appropriate, awareness-and-application level for ages 8–12. North Dakota's secondary courses carry them to mastery. The alignment reflects prerequisite readiness — the concepts and habits that let students arrive in North Dakota's Business and Marketing Education courses already fluent in the language of business.
