New York Standards Alignment

How the Boss Kid Build 8-Kit Series maps to New York's CTE entrepreneurship standards.

Boss Kid Build is a pre-secondary, CTE-adjacent digital entrepreneurship curriculum for learners ages 8–12 (grades 3–6). It builds the vocabulary, mindsets, and habits students need to succeed in high school Career & Technical Education. Every kit develops competencies that align with the business instruction delivered through the New York State Education Department (NYSED) CTE programs.

New York teaches entrepreneurship within Business & Marketing Education, spanning business management & administration, finance, and marketing. Programs are grounded in the New York State Learning Standards for Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) — with business content in Standard 3b, Career Majors: Business/Information Systems — and the Career & Financial Management framework. This document maps each Boss Kid Build kit to those standards.

Where Entrepreneurship Lives in New York

Business & Marketing Education: NYSED's CTE area spanning business management & administration, finance, and marketing — including entrepreneurship.

CDOS Learning Standards: New York's Career Development and Occupational Studies standards; business content is in Standard 3b, Career Majors: Business/Information Systems.

Career & Financial Management (CFM): A required framework of employability and financial-management content embedded in every CTE program.

CTSOs & School-Based Enterprise: Entrepreneurship and school-based enterprise count as work-based learning; DECA and FBLA are the aligned CTSOs.

Kit-by-Kit Alignment

Each kit maps to the New York course, cluster, or standard it most directly prepares students for. Boss Kid Build is pre-secondary and functions as a CTE on-ramp, not a replacement for New York's approved courses.

A Note on Alignment Level

Boss Kid Build introduces these standards at an age-appropriate, awareness-and-application level for ages 8–12. New York's secondary programs carry them to mastery. The alignment reflects prerequisite readiness — the concepts and habits that let students arrive in New York's Business & Marketing Education programs already fluent in the language of business.
