New Mexico Standards Alignment

How the Boss Kid Build 8-Kit Series maps to New Mexico CTE and the Common Career Technical Core.

Boss Kid Build is a pre-CTE entrepreneurship curriculum for learners ages 8–12 (grades 3–6), designed as the on-ramp to high school Career & Technical Education. Every kit develops competencies that align with entrepreneurship instruction delivered through the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) College & Career Readiness Bureau.

New Mexico organizes Career & Technology Education (CTE) around the National Career Clusters® Framework, and its Programs of Study are built to master the Common Career Technical Core (CCTC) and Career-Ready Practices, meeting the standards set in NMAC 6.29.3. The crosswalk below maps each kit to the relevant clusters and CCTC focus areas.

Where Entrepreneurship Lives in New Mexico

Management & Entrepreneurship Cluster: Planning, launching, leading, and managing a business venture.

Marketing & Sales Cluster: Customer discovery, branding, promotion, and selling — including school-based enterprise experiences.

Common Career Technical Core (CCTC): The national standards set NM Programs of Study are built to master — cluster/pathway knowledge & skills plus the 12 Career-Ready Practices (CRP).

NMAC 6.29.3: The New Mexico Administrative Code section establishing the academic and technical standards every CTE course must meet. DECA, BPA, and FBLA-aligned CTSOs support the pathways.

Kit-by-Kit Alignment

A Note on Alignment Level

Boss Kid Build introduces these focus areas at an age-appropriate, awareness-and-application level for ages 8–12. New Mexico's secondary Programs of Study carry them to the mastery and completer level. The alignment reflects prerequisite readiness — the concepts and habits that let students arrive in New Mexico CTE already fluent in the language of business.
