Mississippi Standards Alignment

How the Boss Kid Build 8-Kit Series maps to Mississippi's CTE entrepreneurship standards.

Boss Kid Build is a pre-secondary, CTE-adjacent digital entrepreneurship curriculum for learners ages 8–12 (grades 3–6). It builds the vocabulary, mindsets, and habits students need to succeed in high school Career & Technical Education. Every kit develops competencies that align with the business instruction delivered through the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) Office of CTE.

Mississippi's business and entrepreneurship instruction lives in the Business, Marketing & Finance pathway — a two-year secondary program authored by Mississippi State University's Research and Curriculum Unit (RCU) that integrates the former business, marketing, and finance programs. Mississippi's pathways are aligned to the 2024 revision of Advance CTE's National Career Clusters Framework, placing entrepreneurship in the Management & Entrepreneurship cluster, with the Entrepreneurship & Small Business (ESB) credential as a capstone. This document maps each Boss Kid Build kit to that pathway.

Where Entrepreneurship Lives in Mississippi

Business, Marketing & Finance Pathway: A two-year secondary program integrating business, marketing, and finance, with entrepreneurship woven throughout.

Management & Entrepreneurship Cluster: The 2024 National Career Clusters cluster that entrepreneurship instruction maps to.

Year 1 & Year 2 Courses: Year 1 covers marketing foundations, market research, and entrepreneurship; Year 2 covers finance, management, and entrepreneurship.

Credential & CTSOs: Students work toward the Entrepreneurship & Small Business (ESB) credential; FBLA and DECA are the aligned CTSOs.

Kit-by-Kit Alignment

Each kit maps to the Mississippi course, cluster, or standard it most directly prepares students for. Boss Kid Build is pre-secondary and functions as a CTE on-ramp, not a replacement for Mississippi's approved courses.

A Note on Alignment Level

Boss Kid Build introduces these focus areas at an age-appropriate, awareness-and-application level for ages 8–12. Mississippi's secondary pathway carries them to mastery and credentialing. The alignment reflects prerequisite readiness — the concepts and habits that let students arrive in Mississippi's Business, Marketing & Finance pathway already fluent in the language of business.
