Minnesota Standards Alignment

How the Boss Kid Build 8-Kit Series maps to Minnesota's CTE entrepreneurship standards.

Boss Kid Build is a pre-secondary, CTE-adjacent digital entrepreneurship curriculum for learners ages 8–12 (grades 3–6). It builds the vocabulary, mindsets, and habits students need to succeed in high school Career & Technical Education. Every kit develops competencies that align with the business instruction delivered through the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) CTE programs.

Minnesota teaches entrepreneurship within its Business, Marketing & Information Technology program area, which spans the functional areas of business — management, marketing, personal and business finance, accounting, and entrepreneurship — along with economics and business law. Instruction is delivered through CTE Programs of Study organized by career field and cluster. This document maps each Boss Kid Build kit to that program area.

Where Entrepreneurship Lives in Minnesota

Business, Marketing & Information Technology: Minnesota's CTE program area spanning management, marketing, finance, accounting, and entrepreneurship.

Functional Areas of Business: Entrepreneurship sits alongside management, marketing, finance, economics, and business law.

CTE Programs of Study: Course sequences organized by career field and cluster that lead students from exploration to preparation.

CTSOs: BPA, DECA, and FBLA provide leadership and competitive-event experiences aligned to the program area.

Kit-by-Kit Alignment

Each kit maps to the Minnesota course, cluster, or standard it most directly prepares students for. Boss Kid Build is pre-secondary and functions as a CTE on-ramp, not a replacement for Minnesota's approved courses.

A Note on Alignment Level

Boss Kid Build introduces these areas at an age-appropriate, awareness-and-application level for ages 8–12. Minnesota's secondary programs carry them to mastery. The alignment reflects prerequisite readiness — the concepts and habits that let students arrive in Minnesota's Business, Marketing & IT programs already fluent in the language of business.
