Maryland Standards Alignment

How the Boss Kid Build 8-Kit Series maps to Maryland's CTE entrepreneurship standards.

Boss Kid Build is a pre-secondary, CTE-adjacent digital entrepreneurship curriculum for learners ages 8–12 (grades 3–6). It builds the vocabulary, mindsets, and habits students need to succeed in high school Career & Technical Education. Every kit develops competencies that align with the entrepreneurship instruction delivered through the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) CTE programs.

Maryland teaches entrepreneurship within its Business, Management & Finance cluster — whose Business Management program begins with Principles of Business, Management and Entrepreneurship — and is modernizing toward a Management, Entrepreneurship & Sales cluster with Management and Entrepreneurship I and II courses built on the entrepreneurial mindset. This document maps each Boss Kid Build kit to those standards.

Where Entrepreneurship Lives in Maryland

Business, Management & Finance (BMF): Maryland's cluster whose Business Management program starts with Principles of Business, Management and Entrepreneurship.

Management & Entrepreneurship I and II: New courses on the entrepreneurial mindset, business ownership and structure, marketing strategies, and financial literacy (Management, Entrepreneurship & Sales cluster).

Program of Study Guides: MSDE's guides defining the courses, standards, and industry certifications for each program.

CTSOs: DECA and FBLA provide leadership and competitive-event experiences aligned to the standards.

Kit-by-Kit Alignment

Each kit maps to the Maryland course, cluster, or standard it most directly prepares students for. Boss Kid Build is pre-secondary and functions as a CTE on-ramp, not a replacement for Maryland's approved courses.

A Note on Alignment Level

Boss Kid Build introduces these standards at an age-appropriate, awareness-and-application level for ages 8–12. Maryland's secondary courses carry them to mastery. The alignment reflects prerequisite readiness — the concepts and habits that let students arrive in Maryland's Management and Entrepreneurship courses already fluent in the language of business.
