Hawaii Standards Alignment

How the Boss Kid Build 8-Kit Series maps to Hawaii's CTE entrepreneurship standards.

Boss Kid Build is a pre-secondary, CTE-adjacent digital entrepreneurship curriculum for learners ages 8–12 (grades 3–6). It builds the vocabulary, mindsets, and habits students need to succeed in high school Career & Technical Education. Every kit develops competencies that align with the business instruction delivered through the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (HIDOE) CTE programs.

Hawaiʻi organizes CTE through the Hawaiʻi Career Pathway System — recently expanded to 13 career pathways and 42 programs of study. The Business Pathway carries business, management, and entrepreneurship instruction, structured as a Core Course, then a Cluster Course, then an optional Concentration Course, each built on business/industry-validated Content and Performance Standards. Students demonstrate mastery through a capstone Performance-Based Assessment (PBA). This document maps each Boss Kid Build kit to those standards.

Where Entrepreneurship Lives in Hawaii

Hawaiʻi Career Pathway System: The framework for all CTE programs of study; recently expanded to 13 career pathways and 42 programs of study.

Business Pathway: The pathway housing business, management, and entrepreneurship, structured as Core Course → Cluster Course → Concentration Course.

Content & Performance Standards: Business/industry-validated content and performance standards that move from broad (Core) to focused (Concentration).

Performance-Based Assessment (PBA): Hawaiʻi's capstone: students develop, present, and defend a solution to a real business problem before industry panels. DECA and FBLA are the aligned CTSOs.

Kit-by-Kit Alignment

Each kit maps to the Hawaii course, cluster, or standard it most directly prepares students for. Boss Kid Build is pre-secondary and functions as a CTE on-ramp, not a replacement for Hawaii's approved courses.

A Note on Alignment Level

Boss Kid Build introduces these standards at an age-appropriate, awareness-and-application level for ages 8–12. Hawaiʻi's secondary Business Pathway carries them to mastery and the capstone Performance-Based Assessment. The alignment reflects prerequisite readiness — the concepts and habits that let students arrive in Hawaiʻi's Business Pathway already fluent in the language of business.
